A career as a driving instructor is on the rise in New York City, with more than 3,000 graduates in the last four years, according to the state Department of Education.
The department has hired more than 200 new drivers since 2014, and says it expects that number to double by 2021.
The job includes driving and teaching a course, and most of the jobs require a bachelor’s degree or higher, according a report by the department last year.
Drivers can earn up to $40,000 a year with the Department of Motor Vehicles, while instructors make up to half that.
The state has an average salary of $57,000 for a driver with a four-year degree, and instructors make about $47,000.
Driving instructors can also work at community colleges and community universities, and some jobs are also open to anyone.
Many drivers get into the profession after attending an online training program, or through a career fair or networking.
Driven education is not an exclusive industry, however.
Many companies are offering their own driver education courses to students and others looking to jumpstart their careers.
Drives instructors are also making a profit, and are not paid by the state.
Drived education is still largely in its infancy, though, and the state is now considering making it a part of the public school curriculum.
Drivin education is becoming more common in New Brunswick, where more than 40,000 people are registered to become instructors.
Drictors are also becoming more popular, especially in remote communities.
The department says more than 6,000 instructors have been hired across the state, with drivers making up about one in four jobs.
“We are seeing an explosion in the number of instructors,” said Diane Echevarria, the department’s acting director of education.
“We’re seeing instructors who are in remote areas, and in those areas we’re seeing a growth of drivers and instructors.”
Driving instructor jobs are plentiful in some areas.
The New Brunswick Department of Transportation has nearly 1,300 registered instructors, with almost 4,000 of them driving courses.
The agency has also hired more drivers to drive lessons at the state’s largest community colleges.
